About Bertie

After graduating Tarpon Springs High School, Bertie enrolled in St. Petersburg Junior College to study journalism and fine art, but the music continued to sing in his heart. He eventually left college and became drummer for the Tommy Roe band, The Roemans. During this period, the band toured the world, opening shows for the likes of the Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Tom Jones, Roy Orbison, Manfred Mann, Peter and Gordon, The Dave Clark Five and many more. At the height of Beatlemania, Bertie was playing with and learning from the best.

After the Roemans split up in 1968, Bertie Higgins returned to Tarpon Springs and over the course of the '70s, he slowly built up a collection of songs which formed the basis of "Just Another Day in Paradise". "Key Largo" was release as a single on an independent label in 1982, and it climbed its way into the Top Ten.

Bertie Higgins Key Largo Lyrics

Wrapped around each other
Tryin' so har-ard to stay-ay warm
That first cold winter together
Lyin' in each other's arms
Watchin' those old movi-ies
Falling in love so desperately
Honey I-I was your hero
And you were my leading la-ady

We had it all
Just like Bogie and Baca-all
Starring in our own late, late show-ow
Sailin' away to Key Largo

Here's lookin' at you-ou kid
Missin' a-all the things we did
We can find it once again, I know
Just like they did in Key Largo

We had it all (we had it a-all)
Just like Bogie and Baca-all
Starring in our own late, late show-ow
Sailin' away to Key Largo

Here's lookin' at you-ou kid (here's lookin' at you kid)
Missin' a-all the things we did
We can find it once again, I know
Just like they did in Key Largo

We had it all (we had it a-all)
Just like Bogie and Baca-all
Starring in our own late, late show-ow
Sailin' away to Key Largo
